My new book on PVC

About a month ago, my new book got published. This is a large illustrated book on PVC (poly-vinyl chloride), one of the most popular plastics in the world, which completed 100 years since the first patent for its production was handed out.

The book, commissioned by Reliance Industries, was a fun project to work on. Now that I have written two books on plastics – the first one was on PP (polypropylene) – I’ve become something of an expert on this industry.

It was a great learning experience as well – I came to know about all the various products that are made out of PVC, including a bridge across the river Seine in Paris (see picture below)! I also learned about the various processes which converts the basic resin into usable material for making finished products.

The publisher and the sponsor managed to get nearly 500 photographs from all over the world to make the book really attractive as well as educational. A few of these are shown below.

About thecrestedjay

I am passionate about football, jazz, classic rock, classic movies, crime, science fiction and P G Wodehouse. And also about NBA, western and Indian classical music. Since the wife will also read this blog, I cannot reveal my other passions in public. Have one son who plays the guitar, spent some time as an animator and now works for a digital marketing and advertising company. I also have one (1) wife. I spent a lot of my time on my music and books collection. I also have a passion for travelling but not a great deal of time and money to spend on this. Hopefully, in the future, I'll be able to do so.
